Frame of Mind: A Quick Movie Review of Into the Wild

Let's start this virtual forum off with a quick movie review. Why? Because I actually watched one this past weekend: Into the Wild.

Admittedly, I am a little late to this party (by about 4 years), but I sometimes avoid watching hyped-up movies for awhile in order to see how well they stand the test of time.

My quick take? The movie does not disappoint. It is beautifully filmed, edited and acted. The soundtrack is also excellent--flowing, meshing, and supporting the story well. The story itself is fascinating, and--while peppered with moments of hope and happiness--is also heartbreakingly sad--particularly knowing that the events portrayed took place in the not-so-distant past. I imagine these are some of the reasons it met with acclaim when it was released in 2007 besides the fact that it was directed by Sean Penn.

If you haven't watched it yet, it's definitely worth 148 minutes of your time. Anyone else? Your thoughts and contributions?
